SARAH VANN ART

About :

My name is Sarah Elizabeth Vann, and I am from Appalachia. My childhood home sits in the woods, among moss covered rocks, gentle creeks, and intertwined rhododendrons. The mountains recede to the horizon in a hazy blue: light in color, approachable in character, and magnificent in simplistic beauty.

My mother is a gardener. Through her flowers she taught me the nuances of shade and color, elegance, and intricate design.

With obvious influence from all of these things, my work aims to highlight and observe natural beauty; primarily through creatures, plants, and animals, but not exclusive of the human form and its experiences.

I am also interested in themes of feminism, strength, and the coexistence of soft femininity with firm resilience.
